Do you rent products with varying values, such as e-bikes, canoes, or children’s bikes? Then you don’t want to charge the same deposit for every item. From now on, RentAccent allows you to set a specific deposit amount per bookable item (rental object). This gives you more control and better aligns with the actual risks of your offering. With this update, the booking process becomes not only more flexible for you, but also more transparent for your customers.
Where previously one standard deposit applied per reservation, you can now define a separate deposit amount for each bookable item.
Useful if, for example:
When a customer books multiple items (e.g. two canoes), the deposit is multiplied per item. In this case: 2 × the set deposit amount.
How to set this up:
Go to ‘Rental objects’ > ‘Deposit’ and enter the desired amount per item.
Please note: if you have set a fixed deposit amount per reservation in the Booking Manager, this will override the item-specific deposit. In that case, the fixed amount will be charged once, regardless of the number or type of rental objects in the booking.
Example:
You have set €100 as the deposit per reservation. That will be the only amount charged, even if the booking includes 3 high-value bikes.
Would you like to avoid charging a deposit in specific booking modules (such as shop rentals or on-site day rentals)? That can now be easily configured as well. Simply set the deposit per reservation to €0 in the relevant booking module, and the system will automatically ignore all item-specific deposit settings. This keeps the process simple, without requiring changes per individual object.
With this new feature, RentAccent offers an even more flexible booking system for rental businesses. Whether you work with standard deposit amounts, item-specific risk levels, or no deposit at all: you decide how to structure it, tailored to your business and target audience.
